Amazon Basics Patio Heater 3 Year Revisit and New Heat Reflector Install
Just a slow video where we revisit the Amazon Basics Patio Heater I did an assembly video for in February 2021 during the pandemic. It got blown over in a windstorm last year and the heat reflector was badly bent, so this video also shows the installation of a "Top Hill Upgtaded Aluminum Patio Heater Reflector Shield" from Amazon (sold by AnYangBoXiuShan).
I think he meant an UPGRADED reflector shield, but there you go.

    Hey. So, I have this washer. I’ve had random issues over the past few months of the door not locking all the way. Well, noticed this morning, went to go turn the washer on, all the lights blinked really fast one time and the washer won’t power up at all. I’ve unplugged it for an hour and tried again, same thing. Could this door switch cause that to happen?

    • @WardCo
      @WardCo 2 дня назад

      Probably not. Door closing problems (at least with my machine) are generally the result of the tub seal getting in the way thus making you push the door to get the solenoid to latch. I'd say you're getting into control board problems (and I did a video when I swapped ruclips.net/video/MHuAVtVPqAA/видео.html) but the fact that your machine is not powering up at all points to power supply problems, and I *think* power goes to the motor control board in the back first and then up to the control board. So, if it were me, I'd poke around on the motor control board and take some readings and look for damage -- the idea being to verify if power is being sent up to the control board at all before tearing into the top/front of the unit to get to that.

    i agree but would it be better to run mojave or big sur on a 2014 mac now? if those were hypothetically my real life options. i dont know enough to gauge the importance of keeping a 32 bit mac around, or how easy VMware stuff has gotten on newer macs

    • @WardCo
      @WardCo 29 дней назад

      Realistically, since I made this some years ago, a lot of software vendors are dropping, or have dropped, support for Mojave -- which doesn't mean old versions of software don't work, but they don't get the latest features and bug fixes either. Still, it would run well on an old machine. The problem with VMWare and Parallels is that they don't emulate an Intel CPU, so you need to run ARM Windows, Linux, or MacOS on Apple Silicon machines, which unfortunately means you can't just have a Mojave VM on Apple Silicon for the odd-ball 32-bit app while you're daily driver is Ventura or something.

    I'm late to the party, but I just did this to my live oaks here in Tallahassee, FL. Only difference is I didn't have English Ivy... it was Poison Ivy. Looked just like your situation. Heavy cutting was done with a 16" battery chainsaw and the rest with loppers. After a couple of slices, the big vines pulled right off. I actually pulled a vine run that was over 40 feet. I covered my entire body pretty well, but I have a few rashes developing. For the rest of my trees (like 7-8) I'll wear a hazmat suit for. Thanks for the vid.

The booklet falls way too short. Also, the installation instructions left something to be desired. Kudos to you. Now on to the complainers. Whaa! Whaa! There are some black mineral deposits. That is what my turd gulpers look like depending on the well water. Very hard to get rid of without using a volcanic rock scrubber. Not supposed to do that nor use chlorox. I do use borax on occasion and the stain remain for some time. Eventually the problem helps solve itself only to reappear. So for the critics out there. Shut it!

    GE designated this type of construction as a "mechanized chassis" but it is difficult to find references to that name. WardCo provides a list of model numbers with an F suffix. The F designates the "mechanized chassis" version, so model 510F had that construction but model 510 did not. My model 535 "radio clock", a 6 tube clock radio, had a "mechanized chassis". Probably there was no F suffix because all model 535 radios had the "mechanized chassis". The radios had the donuts over the solder wells, presumably for safety, so no one would get a shock from touching wells if they poked fingers through the ventilation holes on the back. My parents owned a 1954 GE console TV which also used this construction, but the solder wells were not covered. GE depended on the back cover AC power cord interlock to safely power down the set before someone touched the wells. I recall that Zenith continued to use this type of construction well into the 1960s for its "hand crafted" TV sets, while competitors had gone to printed wiring boards. Zenith did not have the donuts, either. In production, this type of construction probably reduced the number of wiring errors made by assemblers, since the component layout was more orderly. Also, when errors were made, they were probably easier to spot by the technicians testing the radios as they came off the production line.

    Good afternoon! I am attempting to use the kasa230 kit (usa 2.26) with a 4 way mechanical switch between the main and satellite switches. If the manual 4 way state is not changed, then expected results occur. Either switch controls on/off state and either switch can control dimming. The voltage from either traveler to neutral is identical as measured with a Fluke 179. If the manual 4 way switch changes state, dimming control is lost. The load is presented with full source voltage. However either main or satellite switches can turn load off/ on Can you provide insight and also offer a way to construct a dimming 4 way switch design?

    • @WardCo
      @WardCo Месяц назад

      I haven't done anything with the Kasa 230, so I can't comment intelligently. Intellectually (and electrically) the position of the 4-way switch should not matter (to my mind) in a properly wired 4-way circuit -- and your report seems to indicate your circuit is properly wired (especially that the 4-way in the middle is working properly). In such a set up, I *assume* the 2 Kasa are talking to each other, either over the wires or LAN. If over the travelers, then it seems like the one of the 4-way positions interferes with that. (This is very similar to the problem we saw in Geordie's garage, which was never properly diagnosed, even with all the other stuff I did.) In a "dumb" circuit you can only dim from 1 position, typically the line-side box, with the downstream devices switching a possibly "dimmed" waveform. In a "smart" circuit, I'd put the actual dimming in the load-load side box and have the line-side box slaved to it, using out-of-band communication to tell the load-side box what to do. That way the load-side "worker" always sees full power for it's electronics. There's no guarantee that's how Kasa implemented it, however! Sorry I can't be more help. I really need to circle back and do another video on all this.

      @@WardCo Just take small spare screwdriver and sharpen the thin tip like a chisel. Tap it in the seam between case and back plate until you get just a little bit of separation. Now work you're way all around the rotor and the gear train will fall right out. (takes about 1 minute) The seam can be resealed with epoxy. With the gear train removed you can clean it more thoroughly, inspect the gears, rebush, etc.
